University Application Drive in Phiring Village – 1 September 2025

August 26, 2025

The Zanza Lab in Phiring Village is opening its doors on Monday, 1 September 2025, for a special University Application Drive. This community event will give learners, school leavers, and aspiring students the opportunity to apply to universities and colleges with guidance and free internet access.

Everyone is welcome to attend this Open Internet Day, where facilitators will be on hand to help participants through the online application processes. Support will be available for applications to institutions such as:

  • University of South Africa (UNISA)
  • Southern African Wildlife College
  • And other universities, colleges, and training institutions.

The event aims to remove barriers that many rural learners face when applying for further studies, including lack of internet access, digital skills, and guidance through the complex online systems.

The AmaZanza platform will act as the digital backbone for this initiative, providing resources and information about institutions, courses, and opportunities in conservation and beyond.

This Application Drive is part of the broader mission of the Zanza Lab. Together, they are ensuring that rural communities gain the tools and access they need to thrive.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work in the world of wildlife and conservation, you’re not alone. A new chapter in conservation innovation is unfolding in Phiring Village with the official opening of a Zanza Lab, a dynamic space designed to empower communities with skills, technology, and tools to build sustainable conservation enterprises. The initiative is guided by the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere Region (K2C) as the lead organisation, implemented on the ground by Zanza Africa, and made possible through the core funding support of the TASC: Carbon Finance and Project Development Company program. At the heart of this effort lies AmaZanza, the digital platform that will serve as the central access point for lab participants, partners, and the broader community. Through AmaZanza, users will connect to resources, training materials, conservation stories, and collaborative opportunities that extend well beyond village borders.
